obligatory CiN reaction
Nov. 17th, 2007 07:05 amEverybody has seen the episode by now. But if you haven't, it's here.
It's been remarked upon at some length by many others how this episode is nothing more than David Tennant and Steven Moffatt doing their fanboy squee thing, which is totally true. It's probably appropriate. After all, the existence of a companion is supposed to be our entry into the Doctor's world. So apparently we are to the Doctor what Ten is to Five. That is, bugfuck crazy. Ponder that, fandom.
The part that intrigued me the most was when Ten flicked the switch to make Five stop fading and stay just a moment longer, just long enough forDavid Ten to tell him why Five is his Doctor. The imagery of that was strikingly parallel to Ten fading away (and probably to his eyes, Rose fading away) on the beach in alt!Norway. It's interesting that this time, he makes sure to get out what he wanted to say, instead of using up ALL his time being flippant. He's learning, I think, and that brings a sort of healing and balance with it.
ALSO: the Doctor has to shave! "Check out this bone structure. You'll be shaving it." Heh, did Rose or Martha ever make him shave? Did he ever get lost in the TARDIS and stumble out looking like a wild man? IS HE REALLY BIGFOOT?? *sporfle*
But in the end, there is only one thing that can be said about this ep:
CUTE, CUTE CUUUUUUUUTE FANBOY CUTENESS. AHAHAHA DAVID TENNANT YOU'RE SO UNDIGNIFIED AND I LOVE IT.
