Both ask, "Am I worth loving?" and they both turn and run before an answer arrives in the negative. (Neither has heard a 'yes' in such a very long time.) When it comes to hide-and-seek, Dexter and Rita each have the first part down to an art form. But together, they'll have to learn the second. It won't be easy: he thinks love is a feeling he can never have, and she thinks love is only someone that doesn't beat her black and blue though who knows? She can't be sure. But he's growing whole and she's growing strong and maybe, just maybe, they're becoming the people they meant to be all along as they live life together.

Maybe this is love, and maybe one day they'll know.

I will never get over the sad but adorable irony of this show that absolutely everybody on it is a bit broken in some way and thinks they can't really love or be loved, and maybe they shouldn't, and never realizing everyone around them is feeling the same. Especially Rita and Dexter. So it is all the more sweet when they reach out anyway, with what they have. ♥
