Because nothing interesting ever happens to me (apart from that eldritch storm this morning that made me very glad the trees above my room were gone) (oh, and watching Persona this afternoon in film class, a fascinating movie that is constructed from subtle acting and whatthefuckery) I decided to post the songs that I can't help but put on repeat lately, because of how fantastic they are.

Basia Bulat - Snakes and Ladders

There's a wildness about this song, some almost Eastern twang? I'm not sure, but I really, really like it.

The Decemberists (with Laura Viers FTW!) - Yankee Bayonet (I Will Be Home Then)

Civil War song? Nobody does that, it's pretty damn cool! I especially like the line about the hills of Oconee, since that's a few hours drive northeast from where I live, and north Georgia always makes me happy. ALSO LAURA VIERS IS SINGING OMG *LOVES*

Eddi Reader - Glasgow Star

I love how there's such a sense of place about this song. It feels so lovely and homey.

Steve Reynolds - Dear Rose

Holy shit, do you HEAR how he plays that guitar? It makes me think the world is a happy place I want to dance in. And I'm sure the lyrics are awesome and will someday make a fabulous addition to a Doctor/Rose fanmix, but I'm too busy being in awe of the guitar playing to pay attention at the moment.

Ann Vriend - (If We Are Not) Spies

Heee! Oh, so much brilliance. From her upcoming (March 11, I'm counting the days) album "When We Were Spies", she makes up a whole bunch of songs about love in a time of espionage! Which is obviously made of awesome. As are lyrics like "Ducking into alleys in my overcoat, tracking from a random phone booth, take the stairs, avoid the elevator. I'd do anything to get back to you."

The Feeling - Rose

Slow and sweet, with a pretty piano. Another song for Rose. (I miss that girl! But! That Spoiler! and Those Other Spoilers From Yesterday!)

Page France - Spine

Nothing too outstanding, sounds like every other indie rock/folk band, but still, there's something that just makes me want to listen again and again. I think it's just kind of a sideways way of looking at the world and relationships, or something. I like it.

Oh wow, is that Dear Rose a cover of Nina Nastasia's version?! And omfg I am totally downloading these, thanks x 203957230 for uploading them. I'm in the middle of some tedious work and I think they'll save me beautifully. ♥

You're so welcome! Doubtless you have figured out by now that that Dear Rose isn't a cover, but isn't it sooo prettty? Glad I could be of some help with your tedious work, I love giving people music!

You are so cool. <3 I've been getting into Page France. And I know it's long past time for me to be getting into the Decemberists.

So thank you for making my writing night a happy one, with NEW MUSIC! *hugs*

YOU'RE SO WELCOME. I've just been getting into the Decemberists myself, for some reason they didn't hit the right chord in me until about now, but I do like them. I'll have to look up some more Page France, I think, too.

*HUGS*

MUSIC MUSIC MUSIC YAY. And oh god, isn't Dear Rose amazing? And since I have now watched the end of s2 of Who, it has just gotten even better. I almost want to write a songfic to it. But I won't, because I am just not that person. :)
