I don't seek out concept albums. In fact, I'm not totally sure I have the definition down. However, if it's an album put together to tell a story, rather than an unconnected bunch of songs.... OH FUCK YES. I love Ann Vriend's album (If We Are Not) Spies and its excellent espionage themes.

Today, Coilhouse alerted me to another concept album... Many Moons by Janelle Monae. She sings about a fictitious Cindy Mayweather, an android on the run from the law for being in love with a human. She's got a really nice pop-rock style and a great set of vocals, and really rocks the vintage (rockabilly?) androgynous look that I know you guys like.

But don't just take my word for her awesome. Watch the promo film/music video that goes along with Many Moons.

I watched as requested. While the first time I did not pick out the story it was because I have to admit the video itself was quite interesting. Overall not my taste of music but I enjoyed it.
