I shouldn't be posting. It's just barely seven in the morning, I haven't slept more than four hours in about a week and a half, I'm at work, there's little hope of caffeine in my future, and [livejournal.com profile] ninamazing is on the couch at my house and goddammit I envy her.

But, guys. I got Thea Gilmore's new album Murphey's Heart last night in the mail.

Okay, let me be honest. When "You're the Radio" came out last week or whenever I liked it enormously, but I was pretty sure it was radio bait to boost listener attention on Radio 2. Which is GREAT and it totally fucking worked and I am so happy for Thea that she's getting her music out there more than ever. I read some interviews and some stuff on her site about the new album and I thought it would be much the same. Songs about love, light-hearted stuff with two verses, a chorus, and a bridge, all very playable and I'd love it, but... it wouldn't be songs like "Whistle and Steam" that I listen to over and over and daydream about every traveling story I've ever read. Wouldn't be "December in New York," so quiet and full of gorgeous imagery. Wouldn't be "Even Gods Do," her song about Neil Gaiman's book American Gods.

And THEN I put it on this morning on the way to work and realized exactly how stupid I was.

Oh my GOD. The lyrics. The MUSIC. I didn't put it on my iPod last night so I can't listen at work and I wish I could. Maybe it's a good thing though because I am up to track 5 and I just don't want to breathe.

Holy shit, Thea. You've outdone yourself.

In addition, the special edition CD I ordered is beautiful, there's a box with the CD and a series of lyric cards that are just these beautifully designed postcards and I want to frame them.

Ahhhhhh i want to go listen to it more rather than sitting here falling asleep.

I honestly don’t know; I got up at 5.30 this morning after going to sleep about 3.30 or so. Did about the same thing yesterday. Ran around Dragon*Con all weekend on barely any sleep (as you can see we all did, in the Mark Sheppard pic haha) and before that I was working on full time work plus two big editing projects, also without sleep.
I’m thinking maybe I can fit a nap in sometime next month. It’d be fun.

YOU SHOULD BE LISTENING TO THEA GILMORE RIGHT NOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW. Her music is awesome and her lyrics are positively brilliant and her voice is sexy as hell.

[livejournal.com profile] ninamazing likes my couch. She is attempting to meld with it, I believe.

It IS. :DDD The album was a surprise to me too, I only knew about the email she sent out for the single and all of a sudden there was this pre-order button on iTunes.

AAAHHHH THEA. I need this album. And I love the lyric card idea! I've seen that once before (on Katie Sawicki's album), and it was gorgeous.

Yes, you SO need this album. I was driving down the road flailing at every song at six-thirty in the morning after sleeping about an hour and a half out of the past 48. Things have to be pretty incredible to break into my head under such conditions.
