Dear Yuletide author,

You are a beautiful wonderful human being for being there to write me fic a la carte. I would bake you brownies if I could. But I can't, so know that I love you with sparkly-eyed love. And if you have any pressing urgent questions about any of this, I swear I will not track your IP address and figure out who you are if you leave a comment. I honestly have eight billion things to do that take priority.

Actor RPF- William Powell/Myrna Loy

Look at these two. I mean seriously. They have the chemistry of a thousand tech school labs and they aren't afraid to show it; the Hayes Code might have said they couldn't have sex scenes in their movies but I swear that they were more intimate in separate beds with pyjamas and robes on than most couples are naked and in one bed.

About their relationship as actors together:

“It wasn´t a conscious thing. If you heard us talking in a room, you´d hear the same thing. He´d tease me a little, and there was sort of a blending which seemed to please people. Bill naturally is a witty man. He doesn´t have to have lines. […]

The first one [dog who played Asta], Skippy, bit me once, so our relationship was hardly idyllic. My relationship with Bill was. We became very close friends, but contrary to popular belief, we were never really married or even close to it. Oh, there were times when Bill had a crush on me and times when I had a crush on Bill, but we never made anything of it. We worked around it and stayed pals.” ~ Myrna Loy

Bill and Myrna were such a successful screen team, people outside Hollywood assumed they really were married. Not only did they get fan mail asking for marital advice, but when they went to San Francisco for location shooting on “After the Thin Man” (1936), with Bill´s girlfriend Jean Harlow who was along for the ride, they discovered they had been booked into the Bridal Suite as Mr. and Mrs. Powell. The ladies shared the suite, while Bill had to settle for a small room several floors below - “I never saw his room, so I don´t know how bad it was, but Bill complained bitterly, let me tell you, angling to get upstairs.”

SO THIS IS MY CHALLENGE TO YOU, YULETIDE WRITER. Tell me about those times they had crushes on each other and didn't do anything about it. Tell me about the five times they didn't sleep together and once they accidentally did because they forgot they weren't actually married. Tell me about when they were filming The Thin Man movies and suddenly being Nick and Nora was more real than being Bill and Myrna (not in like a they-end-up-in-the-movie-for-real sort of way. Just that acting as a smart-mouthing husband and wife who adore each other seems like who they really are, not the multiple-times-married actors on a cheap set with a director yelling at them).

Pretty please?

Young Avengers- Jessica Jones, Kate Bishop

With the New Avengers, the growth of the Young Avengers, Kate's latest partnership fighting crime/getting up to hijinks with Clint Barton, a lot has happened over the past few years. Jessica Jones has gone from being an alcoholic private dick to being a mother and a superhero, a future she never saw for herself. Jessica has had such a big hand in Kate's life, and I would love to see just them hanging out, talking about the adjustments in their lives, what being a costumed vigilante means to them when Jessica once thought that being one was a terrible idea, and Kate got her identity from someone else who isn't dead and not using it anymore. Bonus points if Jessica swears like a motherfucking sailor. And if Clint shows up complaining he never gets included in girl time. And if Natasha is involved in any way. Especially Natasha. Between her killing people and Jessica Jones having a PhD in the linguistics of swearing, Kate has some very good role models. Drama, comedy, quite a bit of both with some black humor because look at who we're talking about here... all these are welcomed.

Grosse Pointe Blank- Martin Blank, Marcella

I want a straight up First Time They Met story. Did Martin just put a classified ad in the paper, Secretary wanted for busy hired assassination agency? Or did he have a job wiping out an entire board of executives and Marcella just took it all in stride, said she was now officially out of a job, and Martin said he needed someone to manage the paperwork? Whatever it was, clearly it involved Marcella being amazing, Martin probably being a little dumbfounded, and the two of them working together better than they ever thought possible. But definitely genfic, I don't see them being romantic as working out, because Marcella is not romantic in the least and would most definitely stab Martin in his sleep if they got together simply because she has no patience for his shit.

EDIT: Okay, I JUST recovered from my amnesia and realized that Frostfire wrote me a very similar story last year, possibly to match an identical request, and it was very good, and my asking again should not be an indicator that it was inadequate because I did greatly enjoy it. I just have the memory of a brain-damaged guppie. If you are NOT Frostfire, and you just really have your brain set on fire by this prompt, go to town! The previous fic focused more on Martin's backstory and his decision to go freelance, and how Marcella came into that; if you write this, maybe write a little more in depth about just Marcella and her being the greatest temp this side of the Atlantic or something because she could compete with Donna Noble for Badass Office Ninja. So that is what is up with that and really I feel very awkward about requesting something twice when the first time genuinely was excellent.

Revenge - All characters welcome

Of course, all characters in this show are welcome! But what I really want- a 1920s AU, where successful banker and secret bootlegger Conrad Grayson has gotten David Clarke to take the fall for his crimes, and the unfortunate Amanda takes on the persona of socialite and Bright Young Thing Emily Thorne to exact her revenge, with the help of Nolan Ross, a self-made man who seems to know everyone's dirty secrets. You can write one of her scenes where she's sneaking around setting up someone to take a fall and Nolan is her sidekick, or however you feel like writing it, but I'm thinking something like Revenge: Great Gatsby Edition.

PS- things I hate: anything non-con though some kink in the form of people having fun playing with power dynamics is cool, as long as there is consent and nobody's uncomfortable. Ladies ought to be awesome to each other and not tear each other down and dudes are really like MAYBE 15% of their life priorities if that, so any bitchfights can stay out of stories. I like a little femmeslash sometimes though I don't require it; don't really give a damn about male slash; will talk nastily behind the back of anyone who erases or demonizes a woman like Pepper Potts for the sake of getting a slash couple together. Really dislike menfolk making decisions for women to protect them without the women getting a say in any of it. I can get a bit triggered by accurate depictions of brainwashing or religious indoctrination, but frankly since I got the fuck out of it I can't say that a fic is going to bother me more than, y'know, the fact that real life exists.

I think that's it? I just like ladies being strong and having agency and being awesome together, so anything you write, even if it's a romantic story, that acknowledges women like that, it's going to be lovely.

Much love,

Katie
